Cascabel is a Warmblood gelding, foaled in 2019 and by Contenda, a bloodline long admired by Jeffree Eventing for producing quality event horses. Originally purchased by Elin Jarnestrom, Cascabel began his education under Elin before his talent was recognised by Sam while coaching her. With his impressive size, athleticism and obvious potential, it was decided he would be best suited to continue his career with a professional rider, and Sam was excited to take on the ride.
Believing strongly in Cascabel’s future, Elin has remained involved as a part owner when the Cascabel Syndicate was established. She is joined by Wilson Heriot, Melissa Law, Karen Dabbs, and David and Andrea Newlands, all sharing the vision of developing Cascabel into a top level event horse.
Cascabel arrived at Jeffree Eventing in September 2025 and quickly settled into his new career, even completing a couple of EvA80 and EvA95 events before the end of the season! In 2026, he stepped up to CCN1* level, where he has performed well and consistently finished in the placings. Still a young horse with plenty of development ahead of him, Cascabel has all the attributes to progress through the levels and is an exciting prospect for the future.
