Santoro (Sammy) is a 16hh Warmblood gelding, who was bred at Ryan’s Horses in 2012. He is by Starnberg out of a Regardez Moi mare, and is owned by Sam and syndicate members including Karen Dabbs, and Mark and Lisa Rudelic.
Santoro came to Jeffree Eventing in October 2018 but officially joined the team in July 2019. He finished 2nd overall in the Young Event Horse class at Melbourne 3DE in June, and then stepped up to 1 star level nicely, taking out 2nd place at Tooradin Horse Trials, only his second run at this level.
During the difficult Covid years of 2020 and 2021 Sammy continued to develop into an FEI level horse, and in 2022 Sammy competed successfully at that level, including taking wins at Tonimbuk HT and also winning the CCI2star Long class at Sydney International Horse Trials. Later that year Sammy began competing at 3 star level, and in 2023 he ventured into 4 star classes too, proving to be a consistent competitor with multiple placings to his name.
In 2024 we are looking forward to seeing Sammy complete a CCI4star Long event, which will set him up for a bright future at International competition level!
